The Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball are hoping that updated uniforms will help them in their quest to reclaim the World Series throne in 2022 and beyond.
On their Twitter account and website On Friday morning, the team released photos of four new uniforms intended for use from the 2022 season: a home primary; a home replacement; a main road; and an alternative route.
“We are delighted to present to our fans our new set of uniforms for the 2022 season,” said Jeff Davenport, Royals vice president / Major League team operations. the team website. “These updates reflect new variations on our brand’s aesthetic that generations of Royals fans have identified with, while also bringing new classic looks to the uniform set. We see them as an ode to traditions of the past, but refined and updated for inspiration for what is to come.
The biggest change is a new “KANSAS CITY” wordmark on highway uniforms that is written in uppercase university letters with a vertical arc. This replaces the script wordmark the club had been wearing their road uniforms since 2012.
The main road uniform is gray with royal blue letters and numbers. The white piping has been removed from the stripes at the cuffs and around the names and numbers on the front and back of the jersey. The stripes on the sleeves have been thickened on all four uniforms.
The alternate road uniform is royal blue with white letters and numbers. Again, the piping has been removed, this time the powder blue that was featured on the sleeves and around the numbers. In the unveiling photos, the Royals players wear the royal blue jersey with gray pants from across the main road.
The main house uniform hasn’t changed much from the previous iteration; it is always white with royal blue letters and numbers. The piping on the sleeves has been updated and thickened to match the other uniforms in the set.
The alternative home uniform retains the popular powder blue base, but does away with the royal blue. The logos, letters and numbers are all white, including the TV number on the front, which was once royal blue. The royal blue piping around the “ROYALS” inscription and on the sleeve stripes has been removed.
The reveal photos and video show Royals players wearing the powder blue jersey with the white pants from the main home set.
All four jerseys feature a team logo patch main logo on the left sleeve. And all four are represented in the unveiling associated with a unchanged cap which features an interlocking white “KC” monogram on a royal blue base.
Authentic versions of the new jersey will be available exclusively in the Royals Team Store at Kauffman Stadium from 8 a.m. on Black Friday (November 26) through December 3. Fans will also be able to pre-order replicas from the Black. Friday, delivery scheduled for February.
