About Octavio Aguilar
Project Runway star Octavio Aguilar is a Puerto Rican American, born and raised in New Jersey. He shares a very close bond with his single mother.
When Octavio was 12 he received his first sewing machine. He immediately started making club clothes from the 90s, which later allowed him to open his first clothing store in his hometown. He attended the Art Institute in Fort Lauderdale for a year but considers himself a self-taught designer.
The 42-year-old designer took a ten-year break from the fashion world to work in interior design. But Octavio is back, bigger than ever, as the owner and creator of his label, Dope Tavio, an avant-garde streetwear line without genre.
Her work has been featured in numerous fashion editorials and music videos. Artists like Eryka Badu, Janet Jackson and her muse, Sharaya J, have sported her looks. Octavio is now represented by Patricia Field in New York at the ARTFASHION gallery. It aims to inspire people to follow their dreams at any age.
Octavio Aguilar will be one of 16 designers for the 19th season of ‘Project track. ‘
