How Notion changed my life as a Type A organizer

As an extreme planner and organizer you would think my life would be less stressful, but it often has the opposite effect. For me, not only should my life be well planned, but my inner perfectionist also demands that it be aesthetic. I bought the nicest planners, only to hate the result because my handwriting wasn’t perfect. I switched to Google Docs to always have my schedule electronically accessible, but it was so simple and boring. But now I’ve finally found the solution – type A dream, aesthetic organizer, Notion.

Notion is not just a school planner or calendar, it is the ultimate organizer of life. And if they don’t have a template you like, you can design your own. Not only are there different formats, but you can customize anything you might need. Here are some of my favorite ways to use Notion to organize my life.

I mainly use Notion to organize all my school work and activities. I have created a page for each of my courses that includes all the homework and I can keep track of the deadlines. I also have another to-do list page that I update each morning with all the tasks I specifically need to do that day. These are all pretty typical school planning documents, but Notion makes sure they are all kept together and easily accessible at all times. The best part is that you can design these pages however you want with minimal effort!

To travel

As someone who lives to plan a good trip, Notion is a dream. You can design beautiful pages to organize your entire travel itinerary and even keep tabs on multiple upcoming trips that you may have planned. I like to go into planning my trips and work on it whenever I can to get excited about it. I have an upcoming winter vacation trip and then a big summer vacation to Europe so I like having a search page for both where I can add any information or links I find. Notion has a format for documenting your entire travel itinerary, pages for packing lists, hotel and travel information, even built-in maps – really everything you could possibly need to plan the best trip. of your life. I love that you can add beautiful cover images to each page as well as the travel location to keep everything tied together.

As someone who literally enjoys planning every aspect of my life, I love to use Notion for anything and everything, including my health and personal care. In this section, I have pages for my fitness and nutrition, such as grocery lists, meal planning, fitness plans, and hydration tracking. I also have more things to do for adults like my budget, my rent, my doctor’s appointments and things that I might normally be too busy to handle, but since I can design how I follow up of those things, it makes it much more accessible. I also include more fun personal things in this category; an ongoing list of clothes I love, makeup and hair products I want to try on, my reading list for the year, my life goals and a journal. The possibilities are endless and you can really plan, track, or create a page for whatever you want.

Notion has really been a game-changer for me as an extreme planner. If you also tend to organize your life all the time, Notion may be a perfect fit for you as well. But really figuring out what works best to keep you organized is the most important thing. Happy planning!
